VEHICLES

vehicles within Huxley do not appear to be immediately attainable. all information so far indicates that as a player, you must level up while also obtaining some cash in order to purchase the available vehicles. i like this idea alot. from this e3 review on gamespy:

a players statistics, rank, and the amount of money will determine what kind of weapons, armor, ammo, and vehicle they're able to buy.

there have also been references to the ability to learn new skills which may include the ability [permission] to operate certain vehicles. if this is true, it could translate to battles where the drivers of vehicles actually know what they're doing. i cannot tell you how many times a halo wortie driver has killed me or my friends through his horrible driving, or how many times i've said as a result that people should have to be certified on vehicles before they can just grab one and take it into battle. another benefit here is that n00bs won't be able to drive anything at all, which is obviously a good thing, cuz "n00bs are teh suck".

so what i've got here is the list of vehicles seen or heard of so far, with eyes and ears wide open for more additions as i'm sure there will be. so enjoy, and don't say i never gave you anything.

THE ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER

this is the sweetest ride i've seen in a game for some time so we'll start with the Armored Personnel Carrier [APC]. when they say "armored", webzen isn't kidding. this thing looks like you could drop it down an active volcano and expect to see it blow through the side and drive out. everywhere you look is metal plating. even the wheels have armored hubcaps and there's not even a windshield, just a slit in the front end. i'm just not seeing you gain access to the APC unless someone inside invites you in. oh, and also it moves fast so good luck slowing it down.

in one of the demo videos, i saw seven guys exit one of these [see below screenshot], so it can carry at least that many, maybe more [seven is an odd number]. you can also enter and exit the vehicle from the rear and the right side simultaneously [likely from the left as well, though this is unconfirmed]. the benefit here is that you can quickly exit with sufficient force so as to avoid vulnerablitiy when exiting the APC. i've seen it pull up out of nowhere and vacate seven guys in about 3 seconds. now that's a formidable entrance.

and speaking of formidable, near as i can tell, its got at least two high-powered guns on each side, likely either each operated independently by players inside, or by one gunner who controls them all. either way, i want one.

downside is that one of the translating presenters in one of the demo videos indicated that the APC was for high level players and is very expensive, so its likely that obtaining one of these APCs will be extremely difficult [i wonder if you can pool your cash with other players to acquire one of these bad boys for your clan to roll in].

flipside to the downside: my girlfriend asks me earlier if you can taxi people around with the APC, as in have other players pay you to drive them around. obviously i don't know, but that's damn entrepreneurial of her, and i was impressed. i'm probably gonna try it.

THE HUXLEY HOG

so named because to me it resembles halo's warthog, but enclosed. it appears to hold two maybe three guys, which may turn out to be the perfect vehicle for the average player rolling into battle with a single partner. it also seems to be the economic middle ground as far as vehicles go as well.

looking pretty well armored, the top of this vehicle sports a multi-barreled machine gun turret which is sure to spew hot lead into the tailend of its adversaries. no info yet on how one enters or exits the vehicle, but in the second picture below, the plate behind the player may just be a hatch. either that or the turret on top opens up, but that seems less likely and more awkward.

THE MOTORCYCLE?

is it a motorcycle? not really. but its not anything else either. its got four wheels but it sure ain't a car. and also its my web site, so there. lol. this looks like your basic run-of-the-mill get-you-there vehicle. it doesn't appear to have any armor at all, nor does it apear to have any mounted weaponry on it. this may be the low end of purchasable vehicles within the game.

THE HELICOPTER

no pictures of the helicopter yet, only a reference to it by kijong kang in this interview with teamxbox where he was quoted as saying:

They can go to the battlefield on foot or by vehicle such as cars, choppers or by an elevator. It really depends on the kind of battlefield.

THE TRAIN

mass transit, baby! for all of us low-level players who don't have enough cash and stats to get us a nicer ride, we can hop on the elevated trains to get us from place to place within our cities. i've been on trains like these, and i wasn't even in the Huxley world. all i can say is watch your back and get yourself some cash. lol.
